Tambor’s very own special Roda de Samba.
A Roda de Samba is a traditional Brazilian musical gathering where people come together to play, dance, and sing Sambas old and new. It's a social and cultural event that celebrates the rich heritage of Samba.
In Brazil, Roda de Samba is an integral part of the cultural landscape, particularly in cities like Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. It's a space for people to connect, share traditions, and celebrate the vibrant rhythms, songs and melodies of Samba.
As with most Roda’s de Samba in Brazil, the instruments played will be cavaquinho, guitar, a single surdo, rebolo, ganzá, pandeiro, tamborim, conga and a couple of other things.
Bloco B has been running hugely popular regular Roda’s de Samba in Bristol for a few years now, featuring Bloco B players and singers. We also regularly have guests join us from other groups from across the country, as well as visiting Escola de Samba Mestres and sectional directors from Rio de Janeiro.
Our Friday night Roda de Samba at the Fleece, Bristol, will feature some of our regular Roda de Samba players, as well as invited guests from some of the groups playing at Tambor.
It will effectively be our Tambor welcoming gathering for all, and will be a pure and beautiful, up there celebration of Samba, to sing with and dance to.
Please try and make it for this, get your tickets early and ensure your place there.
It promises to be an amazing party and an amazing beginning of Tambor 2026!
